Instructions:

For the cabbage rolls, blanch the cabbage briefly, peel off the individual leaves and cut away the thick, lower part of the stalk.

Mix minced meat with rice, pressed garlic and spices. Stuff the individual cabbage leaves with it and roll them up.

Spread out a saucepan with half of the sauerkraut, place stuffed cabbage rolls on top and cover with the remaining sauerkraut. Put the bacon rind on top.

Pour enough water to cover the whole thing. Cook gently on the stove for a total of about 60 minutes – until the rice is tender.

For the roux, melt butter on the stove, add flour, toast briefly and pour in water. Stir well.

After the roulades have been cooking for about 50 minutes, add the roux and steam for another 10 minutes.

Serve the cabbage roulades with brown bread.

Preparation Tip:

As a variant, you can prepare these cabbage rolls with red cabbage and lamb mince!
