Clafontis is French and means casserole. This comes from Limosin, a province south of Limoges.
Put flour in a suitable bowl. Sprinkle eggs and vanilla sugar, sugar, milk and salt. Mix a smooth dough. Grease a fireproof dish with light butter. Add drained cherries. (Remove pits from fresh cherries) Spread batter evenly over the top. Sprinkle with sugar. Place in the heated oven.
