For the cherry cake with vanilla yogurt, first grease a springform pan (26 cm) a little and line with baking paper. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees. Drain the cherries well in a sieve. Collect the juice and use it elsewhere.

Cream the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Stir in the eggs one at a time. Mix flour and baking powder and stir in portions at a time. Pour batter into springform pan, smooth and sprinkle with half the almonds.

For the topping, mix cream cheese, vanilla yogurt, custard powder, sugar and eggs. Mix remaining almonds with the very well drained cherries and place on top of the dough. Pour cream cheese mixture on top and smooth it down. Bake the cherry cake with vanilla yogurt in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes.
