Instructions:

Rinse chicken breast fillets, dry with kitchen roll.

Cut a pocket in the fillets with a sharp kitchen knife.

Fill with chopped ham and Gouda cheese.

Salt, season with pepper and fry briefly on both sides in hot olive oil.

Toast bread, remove peel from garlic cloves and cut into slices. Grease an ovenproof dish. Pour in bread slices and place meat on top.

Sauce: heat butter, pour in flour and sauté, stirring vigorously.

Extinguish with a little stock, then fill up with remaining stock.

Stir half of the Appenzeller into the sauce, add whipped cream and season to taste with salt and freshly ground pepper.

Pour sauce over meat and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake at 175 degrees for 20 minutes.

In the meantime, sauté garlic slices and sage leaves in hot butter and sprinkle over meat before serving.

Tip: It is best to use your favorite ham – then your dish will taste twice as good!
