Instructions:

For the empanadas with ham and cheese, first knead together salt, flour, butter and cold tap water for the dough. Refrigerate the dough for 2 hours.

In the meantime, dice the ham and cheese or cut them into strips. Mix both together.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Cover a baking tray with baking paper.

Roll out the dough on a floured work surface. Cut out 16 circles (each 9 cm ø). Put 1 tablespoon of filling on each. Brush edges with tap water. Fold into crescents and press edges tightly. Brush with beaten egg.

Place empanadas with ham and cheese on baking sheet and bake on second rack from bottom for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Preparation Tip:

Serve the ham and cheese empanadas with a dip, such as chimichurri.
